Why Wroclaw?

Why choose Wroclaw?
Wroclaw is one of the most beautiful and oldest cities in Poland. It is the capital of Lower Silesia and has over 650 000 inhabitants. As a city of 12 islands and 112 bridges, it is known as the ‘Polish Venice’. After the first settlers arrived on what would later be known as Cathedral Island (Ostrow Tumski) in the 7th century, Wroclaw developed rapidly as an important province in the early Piast monarchy. Wroclaw Town Hall is one of the most splendid Gothic buildings in Central Europe. You can also admire the biggest baroque interior in Poland in the 17th century University buildings known as Aula Leopoldina.
Wroclaw is an excellent example of a multicultural metropolis situated at the interface of ethnically diverse areas. For a greater part of the city's history, German was the dominant language in Wroclaw. The Czechs have also played an important role in the city's history (in 1335- 1526 Wroc³aw belonged to the Kingdom of Bohemia).
Wroclaw is a big cultural centre: theatre, opera, philharmonics, clubs, museums and galleries provide non-stop entertainment. The cultural card of the city is its international music festivals: International Festival Of Music and Fine Arts “Wratislavia Cantans”, International Jazz Festival, etc.
